Get Notifications from Your Boss Using Flow in O365
Posted On May 8, 2019
There are times when you’re waiting for an important email from your boss, but you’re currently away from your workstation, out of the office, or bombarded with all other notifications. If you’re looking for a better way to get all the notifications from your manager, Microsoft Flow is here to help you.
Before anything else, there are certain requirements that you need to have. You must have an Office 365 Outlook, which you can get for free or through subscription. You also need Microsoft Flow that’s installed on your mobile device. If you need more information about Outlook and Flow, you can visit www.microsoft.com.
Once you have all the requirements, start logging in to portal.office.com using your Office 365 account. Under Apps, open your Flow application.
On the side navigation on your left, click the Templates menu.
Select the Get a push notification when you receive an email from your boss template.
Provide the necessary information by the connectors like the Office 365 credentials. Click the Create Flow button.
Open your newly created flow. It should look like the image below.
As you can see, this flow is straight forward. In the image above, the first action is the trigger for the event of receiving email. The second action prompts the flow to get your personal information using Microsoft Delve.
The third action prompts the flow to get the personal information of your manager still using Delve. The fourth action evaluates whether the From value of the email is equal to the email address of your manager as per value retrieved in the third action, Get manager. If the condition is met, the flow will then send a push notification to your mobile device.
Have you tried this strategy before? What do you think? Did it help you get easy access in all the notifications you receive from your boss? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
